About Interim Lawyers

Interim Lawyers (www.interimlawyers.co.uk) is the online locum platform operated by Ten-Percent.co.uk Limited. We introduce office-based and remote working solicitors to law firms, in house legal departments and businesses large and small. We are a small, friendly, specialist, privately owned online legal recruitment consultancy, established in April 2000 by two of the current directors, Jonathan and Clare Fagan. We know most of our locums personally and have regular conversations with them. The company specialises in the introduction of locum solicitors, licensed conveyancers and legal executives, but we also assist with legal cashiers, fee earners, law firm managers and directors. We have over 1,500 locum lawyers registered with us and we work with law firms and in house legal departments across the UK and offshore.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Quite simply, we are an online platform for sourcing both remote working and office based locum solicitors and contractors for legal jobs in solicitors firms. We are the locum section of the Ten Percent Group of websites, specialist online legal recruitment consultants. We usually supply CVs by email within 60 minutes of registering an assignment with us. We maintain a bank of over 1,500 locums, some of whom have been with us for years, others may be available for a few months in between permanent jobs. Some of our locums cover the whole of the UK and travel regularly, others work remotely on an ongoing ad hoc basis for law firms, in house legal departments and local authorities.

We supply CVs, we make introductions. We help in emergencies and we are quite used to booking both short term holiday cover for 1 week as well as 12 month maternity cover stints.

Simple process for law firms: register your assignment, view CVs, select a locum, speak to them on the phone, book them in, pay them weekly, pay us monthly.

WHAT DO WE NOT DO?

1. We won’t harass you – we try to conduct all our business by email so that your phone lines are not disturbed…
2. We don’t try to sell you anything – if a locum is not suitable we’ll tell them.
3. We don’t try to sell our locums anything: if your firm has a reputation for not being very nice – we’ll tell the locums up front.
4. No umbrella company involvement, so no annoying telephone calls from their accounts or sales departments. 99% of our locums are self-employed and do their own invoicing.

OUR HISTORY – IN BRIEF

Interim Lawyers was developed in 2010 as a separate service after we identified a gap in the market for a reasonably priced locum agency acting as an introducer for solicitors and legal executives. Ten Percent Legal Recruitment specialised in permanent legal jobs at the time and we avoided locums wherever possible! Interestingly it still remains the case to this day that if a law firm or in house legal department have a permanent job vacancy they will usually avoid recruiting anyone who has spent part of their career working as a locum. Usually the reasoning behind this (as relayed to us by firms) is that locums are used to moving about and don’t stay anywhere unpleasant for too long. Hmm…

Jonathan Fagan is the director responsible for our locum solicitor department. He is a qualified solicitor of the non-practising variety, although he still enjoys the occasional trip to county court when we have an errant client!

Interim Lawyers is part of a much bigger group of websites and companies, The Ten Percent Group, although we remain privately owned by our founders and directors. The Ten Percent Group of websites now handle 75% locum work and 25% permanent placements.

Over 11,000 solicitors and legal executives are registered with us and counting. A high number of these stay with us for the duration of their careers. We estimate that over 1,500 law firms have used our services since April 2000.
