In House Commercial Litigation Solicitor Locum

New vacancy just in – a professional advisory company are looking for in house commercial litigation assistance to defend a County Court/High Court matter, probably valued at about £100k plus extensive costs. Relates to a dispute about costs (ironically!). Proceedings have been issued and the case is due to be heard around April or May 2020. The company has been using external solicitors but keen to take the matter in house and get assistance from a consultant solicitor to help them run the case in conjunction with external counsel. It is estimated that the case will take up about 10 hours a week on average but is quite ad hoc and can be fitted around other matters. You can work remotely or from their offices in Greater London. Some office work will be required of course. Start date is within the next two weeks.

Why has this vacancy come about?

Basically if companies use in house solicitors for matters like this they can save a fortune on city law firm rates. For example in this matter we understand our client was being billed over £400 per hour by a partner for work undertaken. Locums are available for this kind of assignment from £50 per hour and upwards, very often having the same level of experience as the external law firms.
