Interim Lawyer In House – Office based and remote

A finance company are on the lookout for two lawyers to join them as follows:

1. Interim Lawyer to assist from the 10th February onwards, or as soon as possible after this.
2. Permanent lawyer to start as and when they can.

The company are a fintech company providing finance to dealers and consumers directly, and have expanded in recent years.

They are in need of quite a different interim lawyer to assist, as they are after someone who can help with both commercial contract work and managing & supervising the litigation function within the company. There are assistants working in the legal department and the lawyer would need to be present in order to supervise them.

Hybrid working is possible if wanted – this would be on a 60/40 split – ie 60% in the office in Kent.

Hours – the firm have a budget of c£45k for both roles. This means that any hourly rate for the locum work will need to be within range and the same for the salaried permanent role. They will consider someone on a part time basis, so if your hourly rate is say £40 per hour, the company would be able to offer you c23 hours a week. If your salary was £75k, the firm could offer you 3 days a week. This figures are given as examples only.

The company will consider all level of qualification for the role.

Job description:

The key aspects of the role:
• Provision of a business friendly and approachable service to the various business teams whilst maintaining the necessary independence from these same teams
• Become a trusted adviser to the business by ensuring that commercially sensitive, pragmatic, and practical legal support and advice are provided in a cost-effective manner
• Supervision of the business’ contracting activities which includes drafting, negotiating, and executing on a wide variety of transactional documents and managing the business’ contract approval process and any related processes
• Management and supervision of the business’ litigation function
• Maintain up to date knowledge and awareness of forthcoming legal changes relevant to the business and advising on their practical implications
• Assistance with legal projects of the business as required
