A new vacancy has arisen with a large solicitors firm based in Salisbury (and London) – this role is based at their Salisbury office. They are looking to not only recruit permanently, but also on a locum basis for a solicitor with specific experience of Court of Protection work. The firm are within walking distance of Salisbury train station.
Starting as soon as you are able, the role has arisen due to the amount of work coming in – the practice is well known for its private client expertise.
Description as follows:
You will be joining a team that specialises in providing Court of Protection Deputyship support for clients the majority of whom have suffered catastrophic brain injuries through Personal Injury or Clinical Negligence. This involves managing multi-million-pound awards. The team also advises on the creation of personal injury settlements and management of these. You will work closely with the Partner that oversees this specialist team.
Responsibilities
Based in Salisbury the role will involve:
” Providing comprehensive legal advice and representation to clients and family members, within the context of the Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation.
” The management of Property and Affairs Deputyships, working with brain injured and vulnerable clients, Trust management, assisting with tax affairs and accounts, drafting Personal Injury Trusts, Statutory Wills, Welfare Deputyship applications and other associated applications to the Court of Protection.
” Attend clients at hospitals, in their home and care/nursing homes.
” Preparing applications to the court of protection
” Assisting in the purchase of properties and adapting them for the needs of the client
” Supervising and overseeing personal finances
