Specialist energy and technology company are looking for an experienced corporate commercial in house solicitor for an initial 6 month contract with the potential for longer due to an increasing workload. The firm are looking for solicitors ideally with at least 4 years experience to handle a caseload dealing with commercial contracts, project finance and IP with ideally existing experience within the energy sector. Competitive rates to £70k (so not competitive if you work for a Magic Circle firm or earn £150k I guess!).

Role Specification
KEY DELIVERABLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Contracts development and review, supporting customer trials and commercial project deployments, including:
o NDAs & MoUs for customer engagement and protection of our IP
o PPAs and site lease arrangements to assess potential restrictions, barriers to deployments
o Development of full service agreements for flexibility management (covering for e.g. hardware installation, energy asset optimization)
o Development of energy storage supply, service contracts and operations to protect the interests, liabilities and IP
o Project EPC Contracts and supply/delivery/field-force partnership contracts
o DNO/Client Connection Agreement amendments / reviews
– Support the review of upstream service & framework contracts with National Grid, DNOs and other utilities
– Taking a lead on legal matters relating to employee share agreements
Person Specification
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with a law degree, and at least 4 years experience of commercial law, preferably in the energy or technology sectors, specifically related to one or more sectors of the electricity industry (preferably for e.g. a DSR, energy supplier/trader, network operator, renewable or similar organization);
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in commercial law, including contracts development relating to technology and service-based solutions
- Experience of working with or for innovative companies on complex issues and used to a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to understand and match appropriate legal/contractual solutions to novel technical and commercial solution deployments
- Self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity. Thrives on a fast moving, uncertain environment
- Seeks out relevant background work to understand best practice and build on others work, seeking expert external input where required
- High level of planning and organisational skills, with a great ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
- Attention to detail and pride in quality work
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to establish good rapport across all levels, ranging from technology/engineering leads through to senior level corporate lawyers in client organisations
- Have excellent legal skills in analysis, drafting and negotiations,

- Experience in project finance, fin tech and general commercial contracts would also be highly relevant to the role
